LAD #34 Brown V. Board of Education

1. summarize

Started because Linda Brown's father was enraged because his daughter had to walk a mile to school when there was a white school 7 blocks away. He appealed to the NAACP, who wanted to challenge segregation in schools. They lost in the lower courts because the courts followed the Plessy V Fergunson precedent. When they got to the supreme court, it took them a year to finally come to a decision in favor of Brown and the NAACP. This didn't get rid of segregation in places like restraunts, but it removed all segregation in schools, which was a great start.
