LAD #3: Declaration of Independence
Summarize the Declaration of Independence in 3 parts 1. democratic principles, 2.list a handful of grievances, and 3. the conclusion
1. It said that one man across and ocean has no idea what the people of America need or want, therefor, the people themselves should elect someone they want so that their rights can be protected.
2. The most important grievances are:
He has dissolved representative houses repeatedly, for opposing, with manly firmness, his invasions on the rights of the people.
He has refused his assent to laws, the most wholesome and necessary for the public good.
For cutting off our trade with all parts of the world.
For imposing taxes on us without our consent.
3. The conclusion is that the declaration of independence was more a list of wrong doings by the king then a document saying why they should be independent, and only say that they ought to be independent in the last paragraph.
